This allows kids to learn something constructive, instead of walking
around causing trouble.
Joanne Benham / Spokane City/County Youth Dept.
The Chase Youth Commissioners and City/County Youth Department
staff congratulate the Hillyard community for its support of area
young people. No doubt, your investment will have big payoffs
in the future. If we want to build the character and competence
of young people, communities must provide opportunities for youth
such as safe places and positive activities as well as access
to caring adults. The Hillyard neighborhood and its community
partners are providing these very supports to kids through creation
of the Hillyard Skate Park. Spokane is a "community of promise,"
which means that we value our kids and promise to make this a
healthy environment where they can learn and grow. Thank you all
for keeping Spokane's Promise!

Although most thought that this would never come to bat, the New
Hillyard skatepark will provide better activities for the upcoming
and current youth of Spokane. Although I am a rollerblader, I
support the local skateboarders and bikers in the area, and cant
wait for the people of Spokane to join together and have a fun
time at this great looking park

I grew up in Hillyard, had my football practices at Harmon Park,
bought baseball and football cards at diamond cash every Saturday
after I mowed lawns. I support any improvements to Hillyard. I
think it will be a great way for everyone to see skaters are not
the juvenile delinquents people think of. Congratulations and
good luck!

When we first heard about this Skatepark project, we knew we had
to be a part of it. It will be more than a recreational facility
for the youth of the Inland Northwest, but a great accomplishment
for the people involved and Spokane as a whole. Nice work Hillyard!
